Visual, Haptic, Technological.
Visual, haptic, and technological are the most common ways of communication for people with communication disabilities. There are so many ways to communicate that these categories have categories.
To begin, there is visual communication. This type of communication can be used with signs, to sign language, to facial expressions. A common way would also be writing/drawing things down. This way of communication could be very helpful to people who can't physically speak.
Next, there is haptic communication which is how people communicate with the use of touch. Like Phycolagistanywhereanytime says it can be from " handshakes, holding hands, kissing (cheek, lips, hand), back slap, high five, shoulder pat, brushing arm, etc. Each give off nonverbal messages as to the touching person's intentions/feelings" This a type of communication that goes unnoticed most of the time but is one that we use all the time in our day to day lives.
Finally, the use of technological communication. There is the obvious way of technological communication like our phones and computers but also technology that helps people form words and sentences that are not able to speak. There is technology that all you have to do is move a muscle and it can say what one is trying to say. I think that this is the easiest way of communication for someone with a communication disability because it is fast and efficient.
It is important to know that there are multiple ways of communication and there are millions of people who do it all types of different ways. Everyone has something to say and everyone's voice deserves to be heard. Communicating with one another helps us understand each other better and understand each other's ideas that make bonds stronger.
